A propos beef processing plant cleared the last zoning hurdle Thursday when Aberdeen's Zoning Adjustment Board granted a special exception to build southern of town.
The board discussed the touchs of neighbors for about an hour and a half before unanimously approving the exception for the beef processing plant and slaughterhouse in an unrestricted industrial district near the intersection of 387th Avenue and 135th road about a mile south of Aberdeen.
About 25 clan attended the meeting; seven spoke
The land west of the city's wastewater treatment plant was not long ago rezoned to unrestricted industrial, paving the way for the Northern Beef Packers plant. However, according to city ordinances, a packing plant and slaughterhouse cannot be built in an unrestricted industrial girth without a special exception from the zoning board.
Thursday's approval came after Aberdeen resident Dennis Hellwig - who solicited the exception - agreed to provide the city
