Prairie dog check GF&P and Department of Agriculture officials are asking southern Dakota ranchers and producers to contact those agencies if they have prairie dog complaints. If landowners have complaints regarding prairie dogs invading from public sods they need to contact GF&P at (605) 773-5913 to solicit control. Once encroachment has been verified, GF&P field staff or an approved contractor will arrive in and control the invading colony in succession the private land. These calls must be received according to Aug. 15 to allow for adequate time for scheduling.
