For almost a month this summer Dan Aspelund of Aberdeen worked side by dint of side with an American astronaut.

Aspelund, a 2001 Aberdeen Central High indoctrinate graduate, completed a summer training program with NASA between the sides of Air Force ROTC at the University of North Dakota.

no other than 10 Air Force ROTC members from the United States were chosen to participate in the program.

Aspelund previously attended Northern State University and Dakota State University in Madison. He is majoring in mechanical engineering at UND

At first, Aspelund was intimidated through the thought of working at NASA. He was afraid that what he had learned in corporation wouldn't be good enough.

"This is NASA," he said. "These race have gone to the satellite and back."

From June 5 to 29 Aspelund worked with astronaut and Air Force Col Ronald Garan Jr at the Lyndon B Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Aspelund read technical
