"God must have helped us," he said.

Although this summer has been heated and dry, it is not the hottest or driest summer forward record. According to the National Weather Service, the mid-1930s was the third-driest period for Aberdeen. Aberdeen experienced its hottest July in 1936 when temperatures rose to 100 qualitys or higher for 16 consecutive days and a total of 22 days.

Nolz was a teenager then, growing up in succession a farm in Zeeland, ND Now 84 he remembers the Dust goblet wreaking havoc on area farms and livestock, destroying many farmers' dreams.

"There was a accident of snow in the wintertime, nevertheless the rain never came (in the summer)" he said.

Nolz and couple other area residents remembered those times while visiting the Aberdeen Area
